Poppy Ajudha: Momentum

Since the launch of her debut track in 2017, Poppy Ajudha has risen to become one of the most exciting artists in London. A musician & singer from Deptford in South-East London, she has grown up in the heart of the incredible music scene, from an early age where her St Lucian father owned the local nightclub through to today where she still rehearses and records with some of the scenes most exciting musicians.

Her breakthrough EP ‘FEMME’ launched in early 2018 to critical acclaim and cemented her place on a number of Ones To Watch lists. Her passion for social and political conversation is clear throughout her music & she has worked closely with Gal-Dem on her debut headline show and their own events.

She has received incredible support from BBC Radio 1, 1xtra & 6 Music, BBC Introducing, Spotify, Apple Music and a wide selection of press as well as selling out both headline shows to date. She has supported Tom Misch and Jamila Woods on their UK and European tours as well as featuring on Tom’s debut album.

The Momentum funding is aiding in the creation of her 2nd body of work and the affiliated art, videos, live sessions and additional content. It will also enable her to run online, print and radio PR campaigns. The key aims of the project are to find new audiences and engage them on an artistic, social and political levels with a unique set of music and visuals.
