The Ninth Wave: International Showcase Fund (SXSW)

If there’s one defining characteristic of The Ninth Wave, it’s how the Glasgow four-
piece mix light and dark. Sonically, they shake the walls. It’s dissonance purified. On paper, they could be the kind of band who’d turn decibel levels up at shows just to mess with people’s heads, but there’s a pop pulse running through the songs. For every bolt of raw noise, there’s a sugar coating. The end result is a dazzling meeting ground between concrete and candy.

The Ninth Wave have released two EP’s which were received with much radio success and Spotify playlist support. This year the band played a large array of UK Festivals, toured over Europe and played two capacity shows at Reeperbahn Festival. Since their success at Reeperbahn they’ve had had a lot or European radio play and stretched over to KEXP and college Radio in the US. This International radio play and Spotify support has won them Record Label, Publishing and US Booking Interest in the US.

They have just finished their record which was produced by Dan Austin (Pixies, Twin Atlantic) and mixed by Alan Moulder (Interpol, Nine Inch Nails) and with it coming out next year in time for SXSW and with the attention already amounting for The Ninth Wave in the USA, the band receiving this grant is prefect timing to showcase them to an Industry already aware and ready for them. They couldn’t get there without it.
