Brownswood Music Future Bubblers: Talent Development Fund 2017
For:
Gilles Peterson & Brownswood Music's Future Bubblers: Candidates Live Development, Workshop Series with Ableton and Future Bubblers Compilation Recording
Future Bubblers is the new talent discovery and development arm of the Gilles Peterson and Brownswood Music family. Launched in April 2015, the intention is to make new inroads across England, both musically and geographically. Brownswood Music are selecting 10 “Bubblers” candidates each year to be paired with industry mentors and receive real-life music industry advice and development in tune with the individual vision for their own sound. The project is also working in 2 focus cities (e.g. Sheffield and Hull) each year to host free music events, workshops, panels and vibes for the local community to experience and appreciate musical styles that are often most under-represented.
Securing PRS Foundation Talent Development Partner funding has allowed both levels of the project to develop and expand beyond original plans, once again. By filming and producing live session videos in the form of Brownswood Basement Session performances for the Year 2 “Bubblers”, as well as collaboration workshop tour with partner organisations across the country supported by Ableton – with a first edition of a workshop tailored specifically for female music makers. In tune with the intention of removing all barriers possible to music creation and support, the workshops will be offered out free of charge to young musicians who have previously been excluded from such opportunities. In an exciting expansion of our Talent Development Partner possibilities, this year for the first time, we will be able to record and release a “Future Bubblers” compilation and continue to offer additional support to Year 1 “Bubblers”.
