Talent Development Partner 2018: Brighter Sound

Brighter Sound is a creative music charity based in the North of England, with a specialism in supporting emerging professionals from non-classical genres to develop their artistic confidence and originality.

Our role as a Talent Development Partner, will combine high-profile platforming opportunities with rich and varied support, helping artists to take risks and achieve excellence.

The programme will support artists who sit across a broad range of genres (including electronic, R&B, indie, folk, jazz) and are at a key moment of change in their career. It will offer around 500 emerging musicians access to inspirational role models, as well as the time and space to collaborate, explore, make new work, perform, grow their networks and move forward as artists with confidence and self-assurance.

PRSF will support Brighter Sound’s growing programme for emerging artists across the North through a number of initiatives including:

– Both Sides Now – a three-year programme to support, inspire and showcase female music creators and up-and-coming industry professionals, with residencies, commissions and training

– Open Artist Series – a series of events, mentoring opportunities and showcases for emerging professionals, offering practical and artistic career development

This support will help emerging musicians to make a career in music – encouraging and enabling them to become innovators in their own future, and active contributors to a fairer and more sustainable music industry.
