Brighter Sound: Talent Development Partner 2019

Brighter Sound Talent Develop Programme connects emerging artists with opportunities across five exciting strands, supporting the ways in which artists can develop their creativity, their profile, their knowledge and their networks.

Including for 2019-20:

Sound and Vision Open Artists Series – offering networking and showcase events which this year include include :-
– ‘Portfolio Careers and Digital Audiences’, presented as a live podcast with Stage Left
– ‘Live, Labels and DIY’ with Roots Music/ NYMPE European network
– ‘Self Promotion ‘online to on-stage’ including a panel, showcase & A&R session, featuring representatives from Ninja Tune, Brownswood Music, Memphis Industries, Red Light Management

Sound and Vision Mentoring programme – an annual offer of 12 mentoring placements, connecting emerging artists with the right mentors from across the music industry

Sound and Vision Performance Platforms – including overseas showcasing and national touring / event partnerships for emerging artists

Both Sides Now: International Commission – connecting a Northern female composer with an international female composer to create and showcase new music

Both Sides Now: Residencies – working with our Northern partners to programme residencies which connect groups of emerging female musicians with inspirational artists to create and perform new music. Our 19-20 residency programme includes guest Artistic Director, Gwenno for our Sound City Festival residency in May , the Summer Studios residency in August working with The Sage Gateshead and a Leeds residency as part of Sounds Like THIS with the Leeds College of Music and the Yorkshire Music Forum.
