Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival: Talent Development Fund 2020

Recognised worldwide as one of the most important festivals of its kind, hcmf// is the UK’s foremost festival of contemporary, new and experimental music, providing life-changing and unique artistic experiences on a local, national and international scale.

hcmf// is an annual, international festival of contemporary and new music, taking place over 10 days and consisting of approximately 50 events (including concerts, music-theatre, dance, multi-media, talks and film) with a related Learning & Participation programme devised and implemented to reflect the artistic programme and respond to regional need.

2020 – 2021:

The continuation and enhancement of existing nurturing of British creative and performing talent within the annual festival programme.

hcmf// works across a broad spectrum of contemporary music practice, including composed music, improvisation, electronic music and sound art. With a proven track record of investing money directly into UK artists/ensembles, hcmf// supports established music creators through commissioning and touring as well as providing development opportunities for emerging artists through the hcmf// shorts scheme, enabling practitioners to gain professional experience in an international context. Between 2016-2018 hcmf// also produced an International Showcase, bringing 20 international delegates to engage with British music each year. hcmf// continue to provide ongoing mentoring support to the artists who took part in this programme.
