Sound and Music is the national organisation for new music – supporting music creators and composers at every stage of their journey in creating and presenting ground-breaking, experimental new work across a wide range of genres including contemporary classical, sound art, singer-songwriting, Ghanaian percussion, choral music, queer art and jazz.
Sound and Music is the UK’s national organisation for new music, dedicated to supporting a diverse range of British composers in their artistic and professional development, to increasing the reach and impact of new music and to ensuring that children and young people are supported to create their own music.
A structured development programme comprising residencies, touring opportunities, coaching, mentoring, and networking days for composers of all genres at key stages in their careers.
Sound and Music work across the UK to support a broad range of music creators, from emerging through to more established, with artistic and professional development opportunities that enable them to progress to the next stages of their careers.
Sound and Music work across genres, brokering residencies for composers from a diverse network of national and regional partners including Southbank Centre, Heart n Soul, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Paraorchestra, The Sage Gateshead, and Sound Scotland. Music creators supported create hugely diverse work in every genre including folk, jazz, sound art, bhangra, gugak, classical and rap.
