Tanya Auclair: Women Make Music
Hailing from London, via Canada and Rwanda – Tanya Auclair’s musical upbringing straddled very different worlds, making for an open instinctive approach to songwriting and sonics. She meshes organic and electronic, pop and experimental, exploring unusual rhythms, vocal harmony and electronica.
Inspired by the DIY approach and artists like Juana Molina, Beck and Fever Ray, Tanya has developed a distinctive sound as a producer across two successful EPs ‘Thrum’ and ‘Origami’ – and has gained a reputation as a compelling live performer, building songs on stage, using live sampling of her voice and an array of instruments. She has been commissioned to compose and perform live film scores for Birds Eye View Film Festival and a rework of cult classic ‘Black Orpheus’ at Vision Sound Music Festival at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.
She is now working on ‘Semaphore’, her debut album and new live show, which will be performed with full band and live AV for this tour across the UK.
