Tanya Mellotte: Hitmaker Fund

Tanya Mellotte is a songwriter & vocalist from Scotland, currently based in Belfast. As a co-writer, she has worked recently with David Holmes for his Unloved music project, co-writing some of the tracks on their debut album “Guilty of Love” (4stars in Mojo Magazine, Record Collector Magazine, The Independent; BBC 6MUSIC album of the day). Several of these songs appear in the BAFTA & EMMY winning TV drama Killing Eve seasons 1&2. Heavenly Recordings released the Killing Eve soundtracks in December 2019, including three of Tanya’s co-writes. In 2018 Tanya travelled to Nashville, TN to take part in a songwriting camp organised by the UK Dept of International Trade, writing & recording with other UK & US writers. Other sync’d co-writes include work with Cha Cha Cohen (Chemical Underground Records).

As a vocalist Tanya has worked with Mark Eitzel & Bernard Butler on Eitzel’s critically acclaimed album “Hey Mr Ferryman” and again with David Holmes on his “Holy Pictures” LP. Tanya has appeared onstage with the likes of Van Dyke Parks, Mark Gardener (Ride) and Har Mar Superstar.

Other selected career highlights include recording 5 sessions for the legendary John Peel Show on BBC Radio 1, playing live shows/DJing across Japan, USA, and Europe, including festivals like Glastonbury and Bestival, and co-producing remixes for labels including Epic, Moshi Moshi, Saddle Creek.

This funding award will be used for professional development, co-writes & collaborations and equipment. Mellotte will attend songwriting camps and industry conferences in the UK and internationally, allowing her to work & network with other writers & composers in those markets, as well as music supervisors and publishers. Upgrading her equipment set-up will enable her to work more efficiently.
