Debbie Knox-Hewson

Debbie Knox-Hewson is a session drummer, producer and clinician, who began her professional career playing for popstar Charli XCX, with whom she toured the world extensively, appearing on various television/festival slots such as: Glastonbury, Lollapalooza, Reading & Leeds, Saturday Night Live, The David Letterman Show and Radio 1 Live Lounge. Debbie’s drumming skills have also led her to perform at the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony in London, and record and perform worldwide with artists such as James, Honeyblood, Clean Bandit, Rae Morris, Betsy and CuckooLander. 2019 saw Debbie working closely with Honeyblood and co-producing their latest single, ‘Bubble Gun’. Most recently, Debbie has been in Los Angeles, filming a Netflix Original documentary about the formation of her own band, Nasty Cherry, with whom she is exploring her songwriting and production skills.

Knox-Hewson will be studying short courses at the London Sound Academy. The funding will also help towards studio space, and per diems for the duration of time studying. Knox-Hewson will use new skills to develop creatively, and open up her client base as a producer. This activity will take her to the next stage of her career because she will gain the core skills to produce independently. Knox-Hewson will then be able to be the sole producer for many of the projects she is affiliated with, like Nasty Cherry and Honeyblood.
