The Open Fund For Music Creators: Unnati

The Open Fund is supporting the marketing & UK tour of Unnati’s debut solo album, ‘Indigo Soul’. Unnati’s music has an international crossover sound featuring elements of Indian classical, spiritual & pop reflecting her British-Asian heritage. Born into a musical family, she trained and performed with her father, Indian Classical vocalist, Nitai Dasgupta and at the tender age of 4, she gave her first public performance in front of an audience of 3,000 people.

Unnati was one of six semi-finalists of the Glastonbury Unsigned Artistes JazzWorld heat and her single “Baarish Mein – In the Rain” was released on “The Glastonbury Unsigned Artistes compilation album. Unnati has since performed at prestigious venues internationally including; Royal Albert Hall, Southbank Centre, Pizza Express Soho Jazz Club, Cadogan Hall, Mexico’s Cervantino Festival, Boubou’s Music Festival in the Caribbean & Kala Ghoda Arts Festival in Mumbai, India.

Key highlights for Unnati have been performing at Westminster Abbey for Sir Richard Attenborough’s Memorial Service, and DJ Ravin choosing her sufi song “Teri Yaad Aati Hain” to be featured on Buddha Bar’s Compilation album “The Ultimate Experience”. Her voice also featured in the ‘Sounds Like Christmas’ soundscape installation at the V&A Museum.

On her debut album, Indigo Soul, Unnati’s aim has been to create her own international crossover sound, not of one distinct genre but crossing genres from classical, spiritual to folk and pop.
