Writing the Future 2019 – 2021: The Open Fund for Organisations
Writing the Future is the London Sinfonietta’s open-call programme for early-career composers and music creators. A two-year commissioning, training and development scheme, Writing the Future aims to seek out the UK’s very best emerging composers, to nurture their talent and provide them with a distinguished producing and performing partner to showcase their work.
London Sinfonietta (LS) is one of the world’s leading contemporary music ensembles and a major commissioning force in the UK. Having commissioned over 400 new works since forming in 1968, we continue to nurture the next generation of talented composers with around 30 new works premiered annually, while our Writing the Future programme has, since 2010, provided mentoring and commission opportunities to 24 emerging composers, many of whom have gone on to establish successful careers following their involvement with the scheme.
The 2019-21 edition of the scheme will launch in Autumn 2019 and will see five composers and music creators associated with the London Sinfonietta over a two year period.
