Vale of Glamorgan Festival 2023

The Vale of Glamorgan Festival has been passionately curating and presenting the best in contemporary classical music year after year since it’s foundation by Welsh composer John Metcalf in 1969. We want to share the joy of listening and discovery with audiences who long to experience the new and progressive, and we work with international composers that are pushing the boundaries to commission new music which reflects the classical music culture of today and tomorrow.

VOGF’s composer development programmes provide a vital springboard for emerging creators to gain insight, technical training, mentoring and performance opportunities. In 2023, our annual Peter Reynolds Composers Studio (PRCS) will be supplemented by a bespoke, hands-on compositional process run in partnership with the Tredegar Town Band. These two vital talent support programmes will enable the creation of 19 entirely new contemporary classical works, and provide career enhancing support to 13 music makers from traditional and non-traditional musical backgrounds.
