Sophie White: The Writer Producer Fund
Sophie wrote her first song at nine years old and hasn’t stopped since. After writing and playing guitar in an all girl band, Sophie was picked up by Guy Chambers and by seventeen had moved to London to sign her first publishing and record deal with indie band Selfservice.
Once in London Sophie decided to pursue her main musical passion, songwriting and from her bedroom home studio she began penning female based fun girly pop with catchy hooks and melodies you can’t help but sing along to. Since co-writing single Liar Liar for girl band Oh My Girl which sold over one hundred thousand copies in the first week of release, Sophie has gone on to sell a quarter of a million records over the last year.

“I can’t thank The PRS Foundation Writer and Producer fund enough for the funding they have given me. This support and backing will create an abundance of opportunities for both myself and fellow receivers of this grant, to follow our dreams and further our careers in the music industry. I think in the current climate, there are so many talented writers and producers making music who very often lack recognition for the hard work they put in and talents they have considering they are at the route of this entire industry. It’s brilliant to see they are being acknowledged and supported for their efforts by this foundation. Thank you so much!”
