Women Make Music: Amahla

For:

EP recording and release campaign

Soul singer-songwriter Amahla had an exceptional 2019. After releasing her debut EP ‘Consider This’ with support from the Lynsey De Paul Prize, Amahla quickly garnered critical acclaim for her “deeply intelligent approach to songwriting” (Clash Magazine) and exceptional voice. ‘Consider This’ was even featured by Bandcamp as one of the Best Soul Albums of 2019.

All this led to performances at The Great Escape and Cheltenham Jazz Festivals, The Jazz Cafe, Camden Roundhouse and The Royal Albert Hall, in addition to selling out two of her three headline shows including at The Lexington in Kings Cross. Amahla now has over one million streams and is currently being featured by o2 Music, Madison Square Gardens London and iluvlive as one of the UK’s best new acts.

With support from Women Make Music Amahla begins recording her sophomore EP, for this young singer-songwriter the next year looks incredibly bright.

“She possesses the vocal ability to knock your ears clean off your head..but instead puts all the focus and effort into the subject matter, using her singing ability as a vehicle for her stories” – Earmilk

“ Elevated by powerful lyrical commentary on social inequities, domestic violence, and inner-city life, Amahla may be one of the next big voices exported from the U.K.” – Bandcamp

“The Hackney riser has a deeply intelligent approach to songwriting, one that merges the personal and the political” – Clash Magazine
