Women Make Music: Rakhi Singh

For:

Rakhi Singh, debut solo headline performance

Over the past decade Rakhi Singh has cemented herself as one of the leading lights in the contemporary instrumental scene in the UK. Singh has held the role as leader or guest leader for orchestras including the RLPO, CBSO, Orpheus Sinfonia, Manchester Camerata and LCO and more recently, branching out into full time leadership and artistic direction with Manchester Collective.

Having performed with, for and alongside instrumental pioneers such as Philip Glass, Steve Reich, Mica Levi and Oliver Coates to name a few, Singh’s focus is shifting to her own practice, taking inspiration from the wildly varied music that she performs for others and making her first steps as a solo performer, collaborator and composer.

Her first set at the CLF Arts Cafe in Peckham this coming March will lay the groundwork for a year of exploration and collaboration, the first step of many for years to come
