Women Make Music: SHHE

For:

SHHE - Scottish headline tour

SHHE is the alias of Scottish-Portuguese artist, musician and producer, Su Shaw. SHHE’s debut release Eyes Shut was premiered by Dazed and led to her signing a deal with One Little Indian Records (Björk, Ásgeir, Poppy Ackroyd).

Recent projects include video collaborations with filmmaker Harry Clark and dancers from Scottish Dance Theatre; Geographical Skin with dancer choreographer Eve Ganneau and collaborations with collage artist Portis Wasp, designer Xiaofei Zhang and visual artist and printmaker Katie Ravenscraig.

Her eponymous debut album was released by One Little Indian Records in 2019. Tracking a period of intense personal change, the record is a sparse, haunting and atmospheric journey of introspection and exploration of identity that demonstrates SHHE’s ability to capture movement, change and the light and darkness that haunt the human condition. As she puts it: “Each song on the album is questioning identity, but under guises and levels.”

Support through Women Make Music will enable SHHE to experiment and collaborate with a small team of sound and lighting specialists, culminating in four live performances across Scotland in January 2020 in support of her debut album.
