Music Venue Trust’s Fightback:Grassroots Promoter

Music Venue Trust

Music Venue Trust is a registered charity, created in 2014 to protect, secure and improve the UK’s essential grassroots music venues (GMVs). MVT works with and on behalf of 550+ members of the Music Venues Alliance, venues committed to providing a place for artists to develop and connect with audiences.

Fightback:Grassroots Promoter
Launched in 2018, the pilot phase of FB:GP gave new promoters support and mentoring to put on their first live show in a GMV. Thanks to support from PRS Foundation, a second phase is being launched in September 2019.

Fightback: Grassroots Promoter 2020 will recruit at least 25 young women and gender minority promoters who will be given the tools to work with emerging artists to showcase their talent. FB:GP will bring together a diverse line-up of up-and-coming musicians, with shows around the country taking place in spring 2020.

The programme will attract early career promoters – many of whom will be working on their first gig – to put on shows at their local venues. FB:GP will help build the connections they need with musicians, venues and media, whilst providing support with the financial roadblocks to putting on a show, so they can focus on creating a successful live music event.

FB:GP will offer training, mentoring and financial underwriting to support the promoters to make sure they have the best platform to start from, and encourage the development of their promoting career, so they continue to find and showcase the best new emerging talent within their community.
