Zhao Yue is the COO of Beijing-based music company Merrie Music.

Merrie Music run two key projects: Merrie Records, an indie label and the Pelican Music Academy, a comprehensive project focusing on enhancing Chinese indie musicians’ industry knowledge and creating opportunities.

In 2020, in order to remain active during the Covid pandemic, Merrie Music took Pelican online. Starting with a live-streaming series, inviting experienced musicians and technicians to share their knowledge and experience.

In Nov. 2020, they started the podcast series “Nihao”. For each episode, they discuss the creation of one track with one band. They look forward to expanding these ideas further in 2021.
