Montreal International Jazz Festival is the world’s biggest Jazz Festival and takes place between June 26th and July 5th in North America, with the BBC Introducing and PRS for Music Foundation showcase taking place on the 1st of July. The final line-up was decided after Jamie presented a selection of his favourite jazz acts from the BBC Introducing uploader to a panel including members from both organisations.
Jamie has a special relationship with BBC Introducing, which started in 2012 when he hosted a special Musician’s Masterclass for budding Jazz musicians, and in 2013 he decided to book a local act to support him in every town and city on his 2013 UK tour. At the launch of BBC Music last year, BBC Introducing announced that it would be forming a new partnership with PRS for Music Foundation as part of their commitment to offer the best new artists unrivalled opportunities to be seen and heard at international showcase events.
Speaking on the latest announcement for Montreal International Jazz Festival, Executive Director of the PRS for Music Foundation Vanessa Reed said:
“We’re excited to be supporting three brilliant jazz artists to perform at our BBC Introducing and PRS Foundation showcase at Montreal Jazz Festival. This is a great opportunity for Malaika, Mammal Hands and Peter Edwards to showcase their talent to the industry in North America and beyond. I’m sure they will get a huge amount from being part of such an important event for jazz artists from across the world.”
